Lamp & Light — Bible Study Guide · Effective date: September 13, 2026
This policy explains how the Lamp & Light app (Android) and its browser version (together, “the app”), published by Lamp & Light, handles your information. The short version: the app does not collect, share or sell any personal data. Everything you create stays on your device.
Information stored on your device
To work, the app saves the following only in its private storage on your phone:
| Data | Purpose |
|---|---|
| Notes, journal entries, highlights and bookmarks | So you can return to your Bible study and fasting records |
| Study progress, fasting plan and fasting history | To show your weekly lesson, fasting schedule and streak |
| Reminder times and settings (theme, text size, optional first name for greetings) | To schedule reminders and personalise the app |
This information is never transmitted to us or to anyone else. We have no servers and no way to see it. In the browser version, the same information is kept in your browser's local storage on your device.
Information we collect
None. The app has no accounts, no advertising, no analytics or tracking tools, and no third-party software development kits (SDKs) that collect data. The complete Bible text is built into the app, so it does not connect to the internet to work.
Permissions
| Permission | Why it is used |
|---|---|
| Notifications | To show your prayer, Bible study and fasting reminders. |
| Alarms & reminders (exact alarms) | Optional. Lets reminders ring at the exact minute you chose. If you don't allow it, Android may deliver reminders a few minutes late. |
| Run at startup | So your reminders are restored after your phone restarts. |
| Prevent phone from sleeping (wake lock) | Briefly used to deliver a reminder on time. |
Read-aloud (audio Bible)
When you use “Listen”, the Bible text is spoken by your phone's or browser's own text-to-speech engine. The app sends nothing to us. Most voices work entirely on your device. If you choose a voice marked “needs internet”, your device's speech service (for example Google's) processes the text being read, under that provider's own privacy policy.
Backups
If Android backup is turned on for your device, Android may include the app's data in your personal device backup (for example, to your Google account). That backup is controlled by you and Google under your device settings; we cannot access it.
Deleting your data
Open the app, tap the settings (gear) icon and choose Reset all data, or uninstall the app. Either removes everything the app stored.
Children
The app does not knowingly collect personal information from anyone, including children under 13.
Scripture texts
The King James Version and World English Bible texts included in the app are in the public domain and were obtained from eBible.org. “World English Bible” is a trademark of eBible.org.
Changes to this policy
If this policy changes, the updated version will be posted on this page with a new effective date.
